01 The proposition

Three things you get, in one licence.

I

Show everything, legally

La Liga, the Champions League, Formula 1, MotoGP, Finnish ice hockey and licensed commercial music, bundled into one affordable licence. No grey-market streaming, no copyright exposure, no awkward visits from rights enforcement teams.

II

Clarity on the rest

Spain's copyright system means six separate rights bodies can knock on your door. We tell you exactly which ones apply to your venue and what they typically cost — registering and paying them stays a direct relationship between you and each body.

III

BarQuiz: an optional second income

When you're ready, activate BarQuiz — a second screen running live offers and a pub quiz, plus ad revenue shared with your venue. It's a later-stage upgrade, not something you need on day one. See how it works →

02 How it works

A four-step operating model.

1
Acquire

Rights mandates

Spanish commercial-venue licensing mandates from XVI Sports (Liiga, Mestis), Mediapro/BarTV (La Liga, Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, Premier League and more; Formula 1® & MotoGP™), and music rights through Soundtrack Technologies. Our technical delivery partner, Feelment/Viihdeväylä Oy, is Finland's largest Liiga distributor for bars.

2
Sell

Venue licensing

Tiered annual licences sold direct to Spanish bars, restaurants and hotels. Bundled sport and music, multilingual onboarding in Spanish, English and Finnish.

3
Deliver

Authorised playout

Licensed venues receive verified credentials, a public "Licensed Venue" mark, and a guaranteed feed via BarTV for football and motorsport, and Soundtrack Technologies for commercial music.

4
Enforce

Anti-piracy action

Monitoring, formal warnings and legal escalation against unlicensed broadcasters — coordinated with rights holders and Spanish counsel.

03 Beyond broadcast

We tell you exactly what you owe, and to whom — even outside our licence.

Spanish hospitality venues are legally required to pay copyright royalties on every form of music and television played in public. Most don't realise to whom, or how much.

Our own licence covers the sport broadcasts and commercial music we contract directly — La Liga, Liiga/Mestis and Soundtrack. Beyond that, Spanish law requires separate registration with six collective rights bodies. BarLegal advises every licensed venue on exactly what's owed and to whom — but applying for and paying these licences is a direct relationship between your venue and each organisation. We don't apply for them, collect them, or handle payment on your behalf.

Spanish collective rights organisations we advise on
SGAE
Composers, songwriters & publishers
AGEDI
Phonogram producers
AIE
Performing artists & musicians
EGEDA
Audiovisual producers
DAMA
Audiovisual authors
AISGE
Audiovisual performers
BarLegal advises on these six organisations but does not apply for, collect, or forward payments on your behalf. Registration and payment are handled directly between your venue and each rights body.
04 The BarQuiz upgrade

An optional second screen — activated when you're ready.

Your licence covers the legal right to show sport and play music — on whatever screen your venue already has. No hardware is required, and none is included by default.

When you're ready for more, activate BarQuiz: a second screen that runs a live pub quiz between matches and carries programmatic advertising, with revenue shared back to the venue. It's an optional, later-stage upgrade — switched on when it suits you, not bundled in from day one.

When you do activate it, every screen ships with a custom Android build, full Google Mobile Services compatibility and enterprise-grade remote management.

Why now,
and why us.

A note from the founder.

For more than three decades I've worked at the intersection of media, sport and business — as a journalist covering the NHL from Los Angeles, as the founder of Finland's first privately-owned commercial talk radio, and most recently as the operator of a Finland–Spain consulting practice on the Costa del Sol.

BarLegal exists because the same gap appears in every conversation with venue owners in Spain: they want La Liga on the screen, the big international match on demand, and the right music behind the bar — and there is no single, clean, legal counterparty to give them all three. Meanwhile rights holders, composers, performers and producers see a Spanish hospitality market they cannot reach venue by venue, and royalties that should pay them never arrive.

BarLegal is the bridge. We hold the mandates for what we license directly — La Liga, Liiga/Mestis, commercial music. We sign the venues. We deliver the broadcast and the music, on one bill. And we make sure every venue knows exactly what it separately owes SGAE, AGEDI, AIE and the rest — even though that payment relationship stays directly between the venue and each body. One operator, one clear guide, one accountable counterparty — for rights holders, for venues, and for the regulators that sit between them.

We are working with XVI Sports for Finnish ice hockey, with BarTV for La Liga, and with Soundtrack Technologies for commercial music. Our technical delivery partner for Liiga and Mestis is Feelment/Viihdeväylä Oy — Finland's largest Liiga distributor for bars. The licensing infrastructure is built. We are now onboarding our first venues — and the earliest ones get the best terms, before the wider rollout.

Let's talk — the season's already on.

Get your bar, restaurant or hotel licensed for the rest of the season — the sooner you join, the more matches you cover.
